Our sustainability mission:
In todays blog post we will talk about how Big Hats For Big Heads is sustainable. Well, lets be honest: we’re not 100% sustainable … YET! But we are doing everything we can to get there. In the following bullet points we’re going to lay out exactly what we’ve done so far and what we plan on doing next - to make sure that we become the most eco-friendly big hat company in the world! So lets jump into it:
Green Materials:
To start, Big Hats For Big Heads carefully selects our materials. We’ve ditched traditional hat fabrics in favour of sustainable alternatives. From organic cotton to recycled polyester, our hats not only fit comfortably but are kinder to the planet. Where possible: we use a material called rPet in our hats - in short this is a fully recycled material made from recycled plastic waste products. rPET stands for recycled polyethylene terephthalate. Our hats aren’t entirely made from this material, we also use cotton and normal polyester (where theres no other choice). One day we hope to have a 100% recycled hat range!
Ethical Manufacturing:
Big Hats For Big Heads takes the manufacturing process seriously. We work with ethical factories that prioritise fair labor practices and minimise waste. By producing in small batches, we reduce excess inventory, ensuring every hat finds its rightful big-headed owner.
Recyclable Packaging:
Big Hats For Big Heads have always used eco-friendly recyclable packaging - from day one! Say goodbye to excessive plastic and hello to recyclable, biodegradable materials. Opening a box from us feels like unwrapping a gift from Mother Earth herself! No Bubble wrap, no shrink wrap - it’s tissue paper, paper tape and eco friendly boxes here! We’re making this a priority from day one and are excited to push the envelope further in the future.

IT AINT CHEAP!
Sustainability is anything but cheap! Going down this path has caused us a significant up front cost and eats into the profits of all of our sales but we think it’s worth it. We love our planet and at the end of the day want to be a net positive for all of us customers and the world. You can proudly wear our hats, share your experiences, rep the merch and slap the stickers on your laptops - knowing that we’ve solved your small hat problem AND that we’re doing it all with the best environmental intentions as possible.
That being said - there are a few places we want to expand on. Here’s what we want to work on next:
One Tree Per Hat!
A tree planted for every hat sold! This would be an easy win for us - we are currently in talks with the best tree planters to partner with on our products! Check back soon for progress.
1% for the planet.
This is an amazing initiative that we would love to join in the months to come.
